Unwilling Warrior by Andrea Boeshaar . . . Blog Tour

Unwilling Warrior (Seasons of Redemption)
Today I am reviewing The Unwilling Warrior by Andrea Boeshaar
as part of the Glass Road Blog Tour.

Book Description:  When Valerie commits her own life to Christ she finds herself drawn to Ben, the Christian houseguest in her home. But her father, against her wishes, is prepared to sell her into a loveless marriage with someone else. Will Valerie be forced to abandon her newfound love? Or will she and Ben, against the backdrop of the Civil War, become in their own way, unwilling warriors?

My Review:  I love the title of this book because it describes how someone with noble character may end up being an 'unwilling warrior" in this fight for right.  Valerie returns home to be with her somewhat prideful and obstinate father since her mother has recently passed away.  Valerie's character is how I would perceive that a lot of young ladies may have been during this time period---sweet, innocent and seeking to follow God.  Ben comes as a houseguest to visit Valerie's father but ends up caught up in Valerie's life.  The "AH moment" when Ben seeks to save Valerie  . . . can't give it away
Another young man is also in the Valerie's life. James, an impossible, self-seeker and the man that Valerie's father wants her to marry.  Valerie can barely stand to look at James much less think of being married to him.  As the Civil War progresses and Ben takes off to photograph the war circumstances change and Valerie must make decisions and move on.
I also enjoyed the history presented in this marvelous read.  The moment an author takes you from your world into written world of fiction is when you are graciously caught up in the story. The story of Ben seeking to find his lost brother and Valerie seeking to find her place in her turned-upside-down world is a story of forgiveness, redemption, and love.  A must read to find out where life takes Valerie and Ben.
Andrea Boeshaar once again brings us a fantastic historical 5 star read!
