The Baby Bible Christmas Storybook

Book Description:  Christmas Bible stories made simple, interactive, and relevant for young children.
With a fresh look, The Baby Bible Christmas Storybook is an interactive and gentle-hearted way to discover and reinforce familiar Bible stories with very young children during the Christmas season.
Inside you will find:
• Simple actions and activities with Mom or Dad help tell Christmas Bible stories.
• Short story length allows for short attention spans.
• Actions and easy vocabulary works well for the small child (infancy through three years old).
• Short prayers at the end of each story help make the story relevant for little ones and teach them to pray.

My Review:  I love Christmas!  And sharing the love of the Savior and His birth is the BEST thing about the Christmas season.
I teach young children at church so am always on the look out for nice books that have a great message for the youngsters.  When I received The Baby Bible Christmas Storybook I knew that this was one of those books that I would use at Sunday School for the little ones.
The Baby Bible is made out of wonderful, resilient laminate press board.  A little one can drool on the pages and then said drool can easily be wiped off without hurting the book.  The book is somewhat heavy so a parent or caregiver can help the child hold the book.  However, it's a nice size for little hands to hold on to.
The Bible starts out with Mary's Secret from Luke 1:30 then skips back to Matthew chapter 2.  This isn't like a storybook that one just reads words out of.  For example the first page begins like this:
"The angel told Mary a special secret.
Put your fingers on your lips:  shhhh.
Mary will have a baby.
Point to Mary in the picture.
The baby will be God's Son, Jesus.
   Pretend to rock a baby.
Mary was glad to be a mommy to Jesus.
   Smile a big smile.
Dear God, thank You for the best secret:  Jesus. Amen."
The illustrations are "cutesy" pictures.  Sweet faces with smiles, big flowing people and chubby animals are drawn for young children.  The colors are not so bright as to make a child feel squeamish from distressingly bright colors.
I also like the interaction that the book offers between the reader and the child.  This is a 5 star book that is great for a Preschool Sunday School class, Nursery Class setting or just a book to read and interact with your own sweet child or grandchild.

  1. The "drool-proof" remarks cracked me up. Love Christmas books -- just love, love love them! We have many in our house and I'm always on the lookout for more. New for this year: "Santa & the Little Teddy Bear" by Peter John Lucking, who created just beautiful illustrations for the book. It's a visit around the world, including experiencing the Nativity, and it includes history, traditions and music and song. Just wonderful. Check it out!
