Description: The story of a girl unsparingly plunged into heartache and chaos, who would save a nation … of Esther, who would be queen.
Wrenched from a simple life for her beauty, Esther finds herself at the mercy of King Xerxes. Leaving behind her only relative, her cousin Mordecai, and her first true love, Cyrus, she is thrown headlong into the unrestrained extravagance of palace living. Quick of mind and strong in spirit, she refuses to suffer the fate of her harem sisters and boldly challenges Xerxes to give of his heart before taking his pleasure, thus sealing her place beside him a queen. While conspiracy spins its diabolical web, Esther’s mind and spirit waver, and she is forced to confront the past in order to save her future—and that of an entire nation.
My Review: This book as you guessed is about Esther from the Bible. I'll be honest I picked this book mostly because of its cover. There is something intriguing and alluring about this cover picture. We know that you can't tell a book by its cover but, in this case, I think, it's the exception to the rule. This book is not only interesting but also informative. Even though this is the author's fictional account of Esther's life it is also a great love story. Do you ever read the "stories" in the Bible and look up ancient history facts or maybe you think to yourself: "What if this happened instead?" This is one of those what-if-this-happened-instead stories. The author does use the Book of Esther as a stepping stone/guideline for the entire book; however, there is a lot of creative licensing in telling Esther's story (guess that's why we call it fiction ). The introduction of the book tells of "Hitler's unprovoked attack on Poland. His men trying to eradicate the Jews and trying to wipe the festival of Purim from the minds of the Jews. . . Hitler may have hated the entire race but he feared one woman. Who is this woman who gave a madman pause?" This one woman was chosen for such a time as this! If you enjoy historical fiction, intrigue, and romance all tied together in one great book--you'll enjoy reading CHOSEN. A five star read!

About the Author: Ginger Garrett
Hi friends, I'm a novelist who occasionally turns my research into a nonfiction book for my readers. I have a special passion for history, with a love of women's history and biblical stories.
I began writing after a devastating car accident which plunged me into darkness, depression and fear. I was told I could never have children and began a journey through infertility and miscarriages. During this time, I could find nothing to comfort me on the bookshelves. I decided to write what I needed to read. One year later, I had an agent and a deal. (The book, Moments for Couples Who Long for Children, is out of print now and available only on my website, gingergarrett.com)
Since then, I have written novels about women in history that have forever touched our modern lives: Ane Boleyn, who fought to give us the right to read(Shadow of Lions), Queen Esther of Persia (Chosen: The Lost Diaries of Queen Esther), and the women who survived the terror of the Black Death (In the Arms of Immortals) plus the fascinating and powerful ancient beauty secrets of biblical lands (Beauty Secrets of the Bible).
My hope is that when you turn the last page of one of my books, you feel strengthened for the journey ahead and that I have found more than a reader: I hope I've found a friend.
