I like this quote by Francis Bacon. After you read this quote tell me why you read.
Read not to contradict; nor to believe and take for granted;
not to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed,
and some few to be chewed and ingested:
that is, some books are to be read only in parts,
others to be read, but not curiously, and some few
to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
-Francis Bacon

Some books I read to entertain, some to learn and grow, and some to understand a point of veiw whether I agree with it or not.
ReplyDeleteI usually read for inspiration - the Bible, of course being the ultimate. Even in fiction (though I read it for relaxation) I like the story to have a meaning to think about.
